Study Abroad ProgramsThe Center for International Education facilitates opportunities for students to study around the world through one of the following options:
Semester Programs (College sponsored)Each year the Center for International Education (CIE) at the College offers six semester long faculty-led study abroad programs. Students pay CofC tuition and a program fee, which includes round-trip airfare, room & board, international health insurance, and co-curricular activities.Fall semester:
Spring semester:
Summer 2008 Programs (College sponsored)Each summer a variety of study abroad programs are offered by College of Charleston faculty. Students pay tuition at their normal credit rate (in-state vs. out-of-state) and a program fee that covers international round-trip airfare, room & board, some meals, and co-curricular activities.Bilateral Exchange ProgramsBi-lateral exchanges allow CofC students to study at a partner institution while still paying their CofC tuition. Normally, all financial aid applies. Because students will not be earning direct CofC credit, classes taken abroad must be pre-approved before departure to ensure that students will receive transfer credit upon successful completion of the program. Students can participate in a bi-lateral exchange for a semester or the academic year.Independent ProgramsIf the CofC programs or bi-lateral exchange options do not meet students' needs or interests, there are independent programs that offer numerous opportunities for study in different subject areas around the world. An independent program is defined as any other US university or a third-party program provider that facilitates enrollment at a host university or institution abroad. Students can study abroad with an independent program for a semester, year or summer session. |
