Bilateral Agreements

The College of Charleston has exchange agreements with academic institutions around the world. Participants are enrolled as regular students at an overseas university by pay tuition to CofC. Course availability varies from institution to institution. The minimum GPA requirement for participants is a 2.5. In some cases, a 3.0 GPA is required. Interested students must contact the CIE for further information.

• » University of the Sunshine Coast
  Students pay College of Charleston tuition fees and study at USC. Housing fees are paid directly to USC. Students can also enroll directly into USC as “study abroad students.” Undergraduate programs in the faculties of Arts and Social Sciences, Business and Science. Application deadline: April 1 for fall semester; October 1 for spring semester.

Austria

• » Johannes Kepler University, Linz
  Tuition swap student exchange. This exchange is part of the Palmetto Partnership for International Education (PPIE) agreement.
• » Management Center Innsbruck
  The main focus of MCI is business. Students pay College of Charleston tuition and study for a semester or a year at MCI. Cost of room and board at the host institution is the student’s responsibility. Application deadline: April 1 for fall semester; October 1 for spring semester.

The Bahamas

• » Gerace Research Center
  An agreement that in return for some use of the research center by College of Charleston faculty and students requires that College of Charleston fully fund a student from the Bahamas.

Brazil

• » The Federal Center of Technological Education, Parana, Curitiba
  Students pay College of Charleston tuition and fees and study for a semester or the academic year. Areas of study include Portuguese Language, Biology, Anthropology, Sociology, Political Science, Communication, Art Music, Pyschology, International Business, Economics, and Accounting.

Chile

  College of Charleston partner in the fall study abroad program; this agreement also offers the possibility of direct faculty and student exchange.

Costa Rica

  Students pay College of Charleston tuition and fees and study at ULACIT. Housing fees are paid in San Jose. Course offerings include Spanish Language and Culture, and Business (in English). Application deadline: April 1 for fall semester; October 1 for spring semester.

Denmark

  A partner school in the development of the initial summer semester in France. It is still a candidate for student tuition swap exchanges. Application deadline: April 1 for fall semester; October 1 for spring semester.

  agreement signed in the context of the Huguenot connection. Semester or year-long opportunities exist. Application deadline: April 1 for fall semester; October 1 for spring semester.

Germany

• » Fachochschule Mainz
  A student exchange primarily in the business area. Application deadline: April 1 for fall semester; October 1 for spring semester.
• » University of Tübingen
  A one-on-one exchange with the Eberhard-Karls-Unversitat which allows College of Charleston students to study in Germany for a semester or an academic year while paying CoofC tuition and fees. Students may either enroll directly into university courses with German students or enroll in courses taught at the Center for German Studies as a Second Language. Housing cost is paid directly to Tubingen. Tubingen is historically renowned for its faculties in Medicine, Theology, Law, Philosophy and Science. Course options include Biology, Business, Chemistry and Phamacology, Computer Science, Economics, Geology, History, Justice, Mathematics, Philosophy, Physics, Social Sciences, Theology and of course German. Deadline: March 31 for the fall semester; September 30 for the spring semester.

  Students may study in Bangkok University while paying College of Charleston tuition and fees. Students are responsible for housing and all other expenses.

UK

• » University of Nottingham
  Students pay College of Charleston tuition and fees, but pay housing cost directly to Nottingham. Students may enroll in any available courses/programs.
• » University of Northampton
  This exchange also involves our Palmetto Partnership for International Education partners (Winthrop University and Coastal Carolina University) swapping tuition and room for our students with their students who are required to come to the U.S. in their second year of the American Studies degree program. College of Charleston students study at UCN during the spring term. Application deadline: October 15 for spring semester.
