Faculty & Staff -- Accessing Network Storage (Dixie/Drayton)

The College provides network-based space for each user on one of our file servers, Dixie and Drayton. For ease of use, this network storage is displayed as a U: drive and is available through My Computer, as depicted below. It acts just like a regular drive on your computer for a seamless experience.

U Drive illustration

The U drive is available on every computer you log into around campus, whether it be in your office or a smart classroom teaching station. This can permit professors, for example, to store their daily PowerPoint lecture on this drive, log into the smart classroom station, and pull the PowerPoint up from the network rather than having to reach down and fiddle with a USB thumb drive or burn a CD. This U: drive is for college files and not for storing personal data.

IT also strongly suggests that this space be used to store your important College data. Using the U drive can prevent data loss in the event of a hard drive failure, and also is convenient when switching to a new computer.
