A note about Windows Vista: At this time, standard College computers do not ship with Windows Vista. IT is researching potential incompatibilies with Windows Vista and is advising faculty & staff purchasing new computers to continue to buy them with Windows XP at this time. Please see our list of unsupported and incompatible software (PDF) for more information.
Personal Computer Purchases
Faculty & staff wishing to make a personal computer purchase can get the same educational discount afforded to students by Dell and Apple.
Sales Tax Holiday Message
You can save more money on your computer purchase if you can wait until the SC Sales Tax Holiday, 3-5 August, to buy. You can avoid paying sales tax on computers and other eligible items, and you don’t have to be a SC resident to qualify. Eligibility is determined by where the computer is shipped. Your official CofC mailing address qualifies. More specific information about the tax holiday and documentation of what is or is not eligible can be found at www.sctax.org.
