Spyware Removal software
Adaware
SE is a free spyware removal tool. It works best
when used with Spybot Search and Destroy. Always remember to run an
update before scanning for spyware. A tutorial for Adaware can be found

Microsoft Anti-Spyware (beta) is a security technology that helps protect Windows
users from spyware and other potentially unwanted software. Known spyware
on your PC can be detected and removed.
Spybot Search and Destroy is the best free spyware removal
tool you can get. It works well with Adaware SE and catches things
no other removers can catch. Be sure to run your updates before scanning.
The Cleaner. This is a 30 day trial. It is not a very
well known program so spyware doesn't usually attack it directly, like
it would Spybot Search and Destroy. We usually use this as a last resort
on machines that are already spyware infested.
FireFox is an open source web browser with built in pop up blocking and Spyware
prevention. It comes highly recommended by the Student Support Desk.
GAIM is an open source instant messenger that runs off of the AOL network, so
you can still have your buddy list and all the benefits of AIM without
the advertisments and the risk of spreading viruses.
Open Office is a free alternative for Microsoft Office. It
comes with a Word Processor, Spreadsheet, and Presentation software.
You can even open and save files to work with Microsoft Word, Excel,
and Powerpoint
The GIMP is a free, open source, powerful Image editor. It
requires the GTK runtime enviroment be installed first. This can be downloaded
here
Trillian The multi-network Trillian IM client allows you to
seamlessly integrate all of your communications traffic in a single,
sleek package. It is not open source like GAIM.
