Poetry Competition: Massimo Maggiari, Coordinator
of the Italian program at the College of Charleston, was the winner of an
important poetry competition held on December 13, 2001 at the Ariston Theater
in Sanremo, the same locale where one of the famous music festivals in the
world is staged.

culture at the beginning of the new millennium. The theme is hermetic philosophy,
alchemy and ars symbolica in the Renaissance as contemplated through poetry,
art, Hermetric studies and mythology.

Spoleto Festival: We take this opportunity to invite you to a very special event
of POETRY, PERFORMANCE AND MUSIC on May 23 at the Maritime Center downtown Charleston.
This event will start at 9:30 o'clock with the singing of a famous opera aria,
a procession, and brief introductory remarks.
