News

• The final version of Assignment 4 is now available, covering Sections 3 to 5 of Chapter 5 on integration, and Section 4.9 on Newton's method.

• The Final Exam location has been changed, to avoid pile driving noise. It will be held

  Tuesday December 12, 4-7pm in the Old Library, Room 004.

  That is in the "basement" of the Randolph Scott Small building (the old library, not the new one), which entered through the "back" doors to the South end of the West side. That is, the side opposite the main "Cougar Mall" entrance, and the doors furthest from Calhoun Street.

  I suggest you visit it some day before the exam, to make sure you can find it!

• Due to the storm closure and other factors, a number of dates have been changed, including the last day of classes, which is now Tuesday December 5. See below, and in the revised version of the main course handout.

Handouts

• An overview of the course is available in Rich Text Format (RTF) or in Portable Document Format (PDF). This describes course objectives, topics, assessment and grading policy, sources of help outside class, and other organizational details.
• The voluntary survey handed out in class, in PDF.
• Assignment 1.
• A study guide for Chapters 1 and 2, with all the homework practice exercises given in class.
• Revised study guide/exercise list for Chapter 3 and Test 2.
• study guide/exercise list for Chapters 4 and 5 and Test 3.
• Assignment 2 (in RTF), due Friday October 20.
• Notes on definite integrals, with Assignment 3.
• Part I of Assignment 4, due Tuesday December 5. So far this covers Integration by Substitution, Section 5.5. Questions on other sections, such as 4.9, will be added as we get to that material in class.

A note on reading RTF and PDF documents

Some web browsers can display RTF and PDF documents within the browser window; other browers open them in another program, like MS Word for RTF and Adobe Acrobat Reader for PDF.
