Location Scouting for Television, Film and Photography
The College of Charleston boasts a spectacular range of locations for commercial film, television, and photography. From neo-Classical 18th and 19th century architecture to 21st century contemporary design, the campus offers settings to suit virtually any era.
Due to the historic look and beauty of the campus, many movies and television shows have been filmed at the College including General Hospital, North and South, Cold Mountain, The Patriot, White Squall, Wife Swap, O, and The Notebook.
In 2004, the first televised debate between U. S. Senate candidates Jim DeMint and Inez Tenenbaum was filmed in Alumni Hall. ABC's The View was taped in front of a live audience in the College of Charleston Cistern Yard, and CNN's Crossfire also took up residence there prior to the South Carolina presidential primary in 2000. In 2008, productions shooting on campus thus far include the television show Army Wives and feature film, The New Daughter, starring Kevin Costner and College of Charleston graduate Margaret Ann Florence.
The campus is most accessible during Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter breaks, and other holidays; however, the Office of Event Marketing welcomes commercial productions to contact us year round for potential locations.
