Deanna McBroom

Associate Professor, Voice

Deanna McBroom is recognized as one of the Southeast's leading sopranos and voice teachers, and she brings that wealth of performing experience into the voice studio. Frequent concert, symphonic, and opera appearances include Spoleto Festival USA, Louisville Bach Society, Charlotte, Savannah, Columbia, Augusta, and Charleston symphonies, Greenville Chorale, Pennsylvania Opera Festival, and recitals from Washington, D.C. to Atlanta and recently at Dalkeith Palace near Edinburgh, Scotland.

Competition honors are: international finalist in the Opera Co. of Philadelphia/Luciano Pavarotti International Voice Competition, winner of the Foundation Award in the National Association of Teachers of Singing Artist Awards in Chicago, and winner in the Metropolitan Opera Regional Auditions in Indiana and Atlanta.

Ms. McBroom holds degrees from the University of Wisconsin (Bachelor of Music in Music Education — with distinction) and the University of Louisville (Master of Music in Vocal Performance — summa cum laude). She also serves on the voice team of the Medical University of South Carolina and teaches annually at the Medicine in the Vocal Arts Symposium.

Her students are winners and finalists in state, regional, and national competitions and have completed study in major graduate programs and opera apprenticeships before launching professional careers.
