Minor in Music

Forms for declaring a minor in music are available at this link or from the administrative assistant in room 315B, Simons Center for the Arts. All minors are advised by Dr. William Gudger, room 324, Simons Center for the Arts.

Degree Requirements

  1. Core (9 hours):
    Masterworks of Music MUSC 230 3
    Music Theory I
    (offered every semester)    		 MUSC 246 3
    Music History II
    (offered every Spring semester)    		 MUSC 382 3
  2. Electives (9 hours):
    Nine elective hours in other music courses excluding music ensembles.

NOTE: For most students, MUSC 146 is recommended as a background for MUSC 246 and may count as an elective toward the total.

Total Hours: 18

Twelve of the credits must be earned at the College of Charleston, of which nine credits must be at the 200 level or above.
