The College of Charleston, accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music, offers a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music with a concentration in Performance, Music Theory/Composition, or Music History/Literature, as well as a Minor in Music.
Performance areas include Piano, Voice, Strings, Classical Guitar, Jazz and Orchestral Instruments. The emphasis is on individual instruction by faculty members who are well-known performers and scholars. In addition, students work with visiting professional artists and ensembles-in-residence who perform nationally and internationally.
The Artist Certificate in Performance is a two-year, advanced program of study for musicians who have completed their music training at the undergraduate level but desire to continue their studies while preparing for professional performance careers.
Applied lessons, ensembles, and other music courses are also available to non-music majors. There is an additional fee for applied lessons.
