College of Charleston Opera

The College of Charleston Opera in the Department of Music presents a fully staged production and several performances of opera and musical theatre scenes each year. Recent successful productions have included The Marriage of Figaro (2005-2006), Trial by Jury (2004-2005), and Many Moons (2003-2004). Founded in 1999, the workshop provides performance and training opportunities for singing on the stage. Deanna McBroom is the Artistic and Musical Director with Robert Ivey as stage director and choreographer.

From a New England clambake to a French villa, from the streets of New York City to the Italian countryside, from London to the moors of Scotland, the audience will witness a sometimes hilarious, sometimes poignant journey. Twenty-one talented singers will present nine workshop style scenes, directed by Deanna McBroom and Robert Ivey and assisted by conductor Lorenzo Muti and pianist Carol Beyer.
