Kresse Honored by C of C Toastmasters May 2, 2002
Recently retired College of Charleston men’s basketball head coach John Kresse has been honored by the school’s Toastmasters organization. College of Charleston’s Toastmasters, which promotes excellence in public speaking, presented Kresse with its Communications & Leadership Award. “As a communicator, Coach Kresse is truly gifted,” states the commendation. “Whether inspiring a discouraged player with a few words during a 20 second time-out, telling stories to a room filled with students or friends, or talking with the press who have become endeared to him – he is always enthusiastic, caring and effective. The exceptional standards he sets for himself and his team in areas of discipline and high performance off the court are precisely those which are carried on to the court and which have propelled College of Charleston basketball into national prominence.” Kresse, who stepped down as Cougar basketball coach in March, won 560 games during his 23 year career. He and his teams won an NAIA national championship and appeared in four NCAA Tournaments and two National Invitational Tournaments. ### Contact: Patrick Harwood |
