C of C Alumna Wins Prestigious Journalism Award July 2, 2002
Kelly Golden, a College of Charleston alumna and news anchor-reporter at Charleston’s WTMA Radio, is the recipient of a 2002 Edward R. Murrow Award presented by the Radio-Television News Directors Association. Golden earned the prestigious journalism award for a three-part series she produced on identity theft. The reports aired in December 2001. Golden says the idea for the series came from meeting a local man who lost thousands of dollars when his credit card numbers were stolen.
Golden, a 1998 communication graduate of the College of Charleston, has been with WTMA Radio for five years. In 2001 she received first place awards from the South Carolina Associated Press in the spot news and general reporting categories. ### Contact: Patrick Harwood |
