College of Charleston Makes Princeton Review College Guide Cover

August 5, 2002

The College of Charleston's Randolph Hall appears on the cover of the Princeton Review's Complete Book of Colleges 2003.

Randolph Hall and the Cistern yard, which have inspired generations of photographers, now grace the cover of the Princeton Review’s Complete Book of Colleges 2003. A comprehensive reference guide for students and parents researching colleges, this work profiles 1,700 colleges and universities and details their academic programs, admissions requirements, tuition and fees, facilities, and other specifics.

Don Burkard, Dean of Admissions, feels that the guide serves both potential students and institutions of higher education well: "The choice of a college is not a prize to be won, but is a match to be made, and the Princeton Review's Complete Book of Colleges is a good introduction for students to determine what schools will foster and challenge their particular skills, talents, and interests." Because the Princeton Review's various titles on colleges and universities are found in almost every guidance counselor's office, the cover image is a wonderful opportunity for potential students from around the nation to view the historic College of Charleston campus. This national attention ties in with President Lee Higdon's vision of the College's future under the Fourth Century Initiative. "The primary goal of the Fourth Century Initiative is to make the College of Charleston a nationally preeminent liberal arts and sciences university. We are certainly pleased to be selected as the 'cover' college for this well-respected guide, and we believe this is definitely a positive step toward firmly establishing the College on a national stage," commented President Higdon. "More importantly, we have also been selected as one of the 'Best 345' colleges in the country according to the Princeton Review." The College of Charleston will soon be featured in the Princeton Review's newest publication, Best 345 Colleges 2003, which is scheduled to be released on August 20, 2002. This book provides a more detailed profile of select, individual schools and general rankings of the top colleges and universities.
