Naming and Dedication Ceremony for the Center for Jewish Studies October 8, 2002
At 2:30 p.m. on October 13, 2002, the College of Charleston will hold a naming and dedication ceremony for the Center for Jewish Studies. The Center for Jewish Studies houses the College of Charleston’s Yaschik/Arnold Jewish Studies Program and serves as the hub of Jewish student life. It contains its own library, student center, and also the offices of the Dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences and some faculty and staff. Speaking at the ceremony will be Dr. Martin Perlmutter, director of the Yaschik/Arnold Jewish Studies Program; Leo I. Higdon, president of the College; Joseph I. Lieberman, U.S. senator; Norman J. Arnold, chairman of the Yaschik/Arnold Jewish Studies Advisory Board; and Robert S. Small, Jr., chairman of the College’s Board of Trustees. The Jewish Choral Society will also perform. Following the ceremony, there will be a reception at the President’s residence at 6 Glebe Street, and tours will be available upon request.
