Friday,5 December 2008: TONIGHT'S OPEN HOUSE IS CANCELLED due to weather. Because our facilities are limited this month, we will not be hosting any cloudy night activities. Please make plans to join us next month (the first Friday in February).

Public Open Houses generally are held the first Friday evening of the month during the acdemic year. We open just after sunset, which gets earlier each month. This semester, open house dates are 5 September, 3 October, 7 November, and 5 December.

Friday, 5 December 2008 (6:30 PM - 8:00 PM) Weather permitting, the observatory and observing deck will be open to the public. Enter the Rita Liddy Hollings Science Center via the Coming Street entrance and follow signs to the roof. If the weather is bad, we will still have a few indoor activities to keep you educated and informed. Faculty and students will be happy to answer any questions you have about astronomy, telescopes, and what's up in the sky this month. If you plan to bring a large group (10 or more), or if you will need special accommodations, please let us know ahead of time by contacting Chris True (truec@cofc.edu, 843-953-2031).

Open-toed shoes are not permitted on the observing deck. Please dress warmly (it can be several degrees cooler and much windier on the roof than at ground level).
