Welcome to Orientation at the College of Charleston

The Office of New Student Programs is committed to helping new students make the transition to the College of Charleston through orientation, learning communities, freshman seminar and other first year programs.

We welcome your inquiry by email (orientat@cofc.edu) or by calling our office at (843) 953-2017.

January 2009 Orientation

Orientation registration information will be mailed out weekly to students who have paid their enrollment confirmation deposit to the Office of Admissions beginning in November 2008.

January 2009 Orientation - January 8-9, 2009

Orientation session confirmations can be viewed 7 days after completing the online registration by logging back into Cougar Trail.

Session 10 Thursday-Friday August 21-22

At the College of Charleston, course options will be available at each orientation session since seats are held open for each of the orientation session. Courses that may appear closed on Cougar Trail may have seats open when new students register on the second day of Orientation. This allows new students to have a chance to select the courses they may want.

The "perfect" schedule may not be available, but all students should be able to register for a full load of classes that will fulfill their core curriculum and degree requirements. New students should be prepared to be flexible and should not rule out registering for classes that begin as early as 8 a.m. or late in the afternoon.

Students who are not satisfied with their schedule can change it on Cougar Trail after their orientation session until the end of the drop/add period for the semester.

If you have questions, email orientat@cofc.edu or call 843-953-2017.
