PSYC 103 Research Requirement:  Completing the “Journal Article Review” as an Alternative to Participating in Research.

Journal Article Review

You may prefer not to participate in psychological research.  You have the option of earning your research credits by reading and reviewing approved journal articles on psychological research.  Approved journal articles are available at the College of Charleston Library via electronic reserve.   To access electronic reserves, interested students should go to the library web page (http://ereserve.cofc.edu.).  Approved articles can be found under the course listing, “103 Research Requirement.”  To access the articles and the review form, you will need to use the password, “knowledge.”  Students should download and read one or more articles.  In addition, students should download the “Review Form” from the course materials section of the reserve website and complete it for each article they have read.  Students should then turn in the completed Review Form and a print out of the article(s) to their introductory psychology professor prior to the last day of class.  Each review is worth 1 credit; therefore you need to complete 6 reviews if you choose not to participate in any experiments, or 1 review if you have 5 research credits from experiments but do not wish to participate in any others.  Additional reviews may be required if you have failed to cancel experiment appointments that you did not attend (see information on “Penalties for Missing Appointments”).
