Housekeeping

Good Housekeeping is an essential part of every job. Work areas, aisles, walkways and exits should be kept clear of loose materials, tools, or anything that would impede your escape during an emergency.

Materials such as lumber, pipes, equipment in the labs and bulk supplies shall be stored in an orderly and secure manner. Mechanical and electrical rooms are NOT authorized storage areas.

Spills such as grease, water, or oil should be cleaned up as soon as possible; a delay could result in an accident to you, a fellow worker or student.

Safe access shall be maintained in and out of work areas. Short cuts should be avoided. Never block aisles, corridors, traffic lanes, or fire exits with equipment or materials. This includes storing excess computer equipment, furniture etc. in the stairwells. You should never have to step over objects to exit a room or building.
