ACCREDITATION AND PROGRAM APPROVAL

On behalf of the candidates, faculty, and staff of the School of Education, I thank you for visiting our Accreditation Website. We are pleased that you have taken the time to review this Website which provides access to our Institutional Report and evidence of meeting the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) and South Carolina standards. We were initially accredited by NCATE in 1999, and the Board of Examiners recommended to the Unit Accrediting Board (UAB) our continuing accreditation.  The UAB approved our continuing accreditation at their March 2005 meeting.

Our School of Education is a dynamic, progressive, and continually evolving model for teacher education excellence. We are dedicated to “Making the Teaching-Learning Connection,” a philosophy that is deeply embedded throughout our Teacher Education Program. We “make the teaching-learning connection” with our candidates, P-12 schools and other education agencies, alumni, and colleagues across campus.

Whether you are a prospective teacher education candidate or another visitor seeking to learn about our Teacher Education Program, we hope that you find the information you desire. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at welchf@cofc.edu.

Sincerely,

Fran Welch, Dean
