School of Education, Health, and Human Performance and
Jeremy Warren Vann Teacher Education Center

May 2nd, 2008 - The School of Education, Health, and Human Performance celebrated the dedication of its Alumni Center and unveiled its Alumni Wall. Thanks to the nearly 500 alumni who contributed to the completion of the Alumni Wall! The Wall is an original wooden, artistic installation by Charleston artist David Puls.

The Alumni Center features seating for nearly 100, a meeting space that can be partitioned and integrated technology for lectures and conferences.

Dean Welch remarked, “Excellence results when highly qualified faculty and staff members intersect with outstanding students and nationally accredited and highly regarded programs.  And, excellence is what has happened over the years at the College of Charleston in our teacher education and health professions programs.”

If you did not get a chance to come to the dedication, we invite you to stop by 86 Wentworth to find your name on the Wall or take a tour of the facility.

April 20th, 2007 - The College of Charleston has officially dedicated the new School of Education, Health, and Human Performance building. The 24,000-square-foot, three-story building is located at 86 Wentworth Street.

The new center is comprised of two buildings: the Jeremy Warren Vann Teacher Education Center—a new, L-shaped building, named in memory of Sara and Chuck Davis’ son, a 1997 college alumnus and aspiring teacher who died in a car accident eight years ago—along with the original Wentworth Street building.

“We are all here in the name of education,” said Fran Welch, dean of the School of Education. “All of us on this campus are here to facilitate the education of students as they pursue their degrees and go into the world to use what they’ve learned and, we hope, to pass some of that learning along.”

While the outside of the facility blends with the Charleston surroundings, the inside has new modern décor and cutting-edge features like LCD monitors and wireless Internet connections. The new building is home to all 44-faculty members of the School of Education, Health, and Human Performance.

March 1st 2007 - Faculty & Staff moved into the new School of Education building, located at 86 Wentworth Street.

October 7th, 2005 - The School of Education hosted a groundbreaking ceremony for its new facilities.
