What you need to know about graduation

Welcome Class of 2014!

This is your official Web page with all the information you need about class events and graduation.

(Commencement information for graduate students.)

There is no rehearsal for December commencement.   Graduation candidates will receive instruction at the Johnson Center gym when they arrive for line-up and should be at the gym by 1:00 pm.

5:00 PM         Senior Class Meeting for Decembe Graduates Only in the Stern Center Ballroom

Wednesday, November 12, 2014

10:00 AM        Graduate Fair for December Graduates only in Stern Student Centeruntil 2pm. 

Monday, November 24, 2014

9:00 AM         Ticket pickup begins at TD Arena Box Office. Tickets will be available during normal business hours.        

Saturday, December 13, 2014

12:30 PM        TD Arena opens for seating

                       The Spirit Shop on the concourse of TD Arena opens. CofC Alumni merchandise will be available.

1:00 PM         Students line up: undergraduates in the recreation gym in the F. Mitchell Johnson Center. Enter from George Street. Latin honors medallions will be available for pick-up in the gym. Graduate students assemble in the Media Room of the TD Arena. Enter at the door from Burns Lane by the loading dock. The Media Room is the first room on the left. Please leave personal items with your family or locked in your car.

2:00 PM          Commencement Ceremony

4:00 PM           Reception for undergraduate and graduate degree candidates, family members and guests in Cistern Yard (Inclement weather location is TD Arena concourse.)

 


NOTE: At the end of the ceremony, students should proceed directly to the Cistern Yard to meet friends and family for the reception. To avoid congestion, students are asked to refrain from going to Meeting Street and the front entrance of TD Arena. Thank you for your cooperation.



Location

TD Arena, College of Charleston. Guests use the main entrance on Meeting Street; doors open at 12:30 PM.

Handicapped guests may be dropped off on Meeting Street directly in front of the arena. There is a curb cut at the corner of Burns Lane and Meeting Street just to the right of the arena.

Reception

A reception will immediately follow the conclusion of the ceremony.  The reception will be held in Cistern Yard. (Inclement weather location is TD Arena concourse.)

Parking Information for Fall Commencement

 

If you are graduating senior and identify as either LGBTQQAIP or a supportive student or campus Ally, you

should participate in the 2nd SafeZone Lavender Celebration. What is the Lavender Celebration?

LAVENDER CELEBRATION

LC is the College of Charleston’s LGBT annual graduation celebration for LGBTQQAIP undergraduate and graduate/professional students as well as their supportive allies. Similar to CofC’s Nia Rite of Passage, LC honors students from within our LGBTQQAIP and Ally community to commemorate their contributions to the College of Charleston community.

Bachelor’s degree candidates from the School of Humanities and Social Sciences
Bachelor’s degree candidates from the School of Languages, Cultures and World Affairs

Ceremonies will last 2 - 2 1/2 hours (morning) and 2 1/2 - 3 hours (afternoon). A coat check area will be the only secured location. If possible, do not bring personal items. Personal items you bring should be checked at the secure area. Individuals with handicaps may enter the Cistern Yard from the side entrance on St. Philip Street.
