Policy on Medallions and Cords
The commencement ceremony celebrates the successful completion of an academic degree. To this end, all medallions and cords worn during the ceremony should be indicators of significant academic achievement. Officially sanctioned medallions and cords include medallions for Latin Honors, Phi Kappa Phi, the Honors College, and national disciplinary honor societies.
Cords representing service awards and departmental honors may be worn at ceremonies for departmental awards and other ceremonies recognizing service, but they should not be worn at the commencement ceremony.
