A Charleston Affair has been the annual graduation gala and alumni reception for the College of Charleston since 1900. The Affair has created an annual pilgrimage back to campus for our alumni to celebrate the imminent graduation of the senior class and welcome them into the Alumni Association.

Nia, the Swahili term for purpose, means "to make our collective vocation the building and developing of our community in order to restore our people to their traditional greatness." This program will honor not only the graduates themselves, but also those that helped them to get where they are today, including parents, family, and loved ones while reminding us "to whom much is given, much is required."
