National Arts Leader Luncheon On February 17, the Arts Management Program, with the support of the City of Charleston’s Office of Cultural Affairs, hosted a luncheon featuring three distinguished national arts leaders. Thirty-five representatives from the Charleston area arts community gathered at the Blacklock House to hear remarks by Jonathan Katz, Chief Executive Officer for the National Assembly of State Arts Agencies; Jonathan Herman, Associate Director for the National Guild of Community Schools of the Arts; and Michael McLaughlin, Leadership and Millennium Projects Coordinator for the National Endowment for the Arts. Topics included trends in national and state funding for the arts, current National Endowment for the Arts funding options for arts organizations, and innovative partnerships connected to the Creative Communities program. The luncheon was part of an ongoing series in which local arts management professionals have an opportunity to meet with leaders in the field. Previous guests of the series have included Bill Ivey, Former Chairman of the NEA and Founding Director of the Vanderbilt University Arts Policy Center and Ellen McCollouch-Lovell, Director of the Center for Arts and Culture and a former Senior Advisor to Hillary Rodham-Clinton.
