A Fond Farewell

Five years ago the College of Charleston Foundation assigned a new development officer to the School of the Arts. Soon after her arrival, Kate Lloyd integrated herself into the School’s cultural and administrative life. Kate has been a “regular” at the Monday Night Concert Series and the International Piano Series, and she has frequented Art History and Halsey Gallery lectures. Simons Guild luncheons, Theatre performances, Piccolo Spoleto Festival and Spoleto Festival USA concerts, and student exhibitions were other venues where one could expect to find Kate. She even taught for the Arts Management Program. Working on her own or in conjunction with our faculty and staff, Kate has secured funding for scholarships from individuals and organizations such as the Liberace Foundation, support for various School of the Arts programs, and funds for the new wing. Her efforts on our behalf have been nearly tireless and have resulted in gifts totalling approximately three million dollars.

Kate has submitted her resignation to the College of Charleston Foundation. Kate will leave the College before the end of April in order to assume a new position with a consulting firm, where she will be responsible for clients throughout the southeastern United States. We will miss Kate’s smile and ready laugh, her willingness to involve herself in basic event management, and her enthusiasm for the School of the Arts and its students, faculty, staff, and programs. When you see Kate over the next few weeks, please thank her for all of her efforts on our behalf, and wish her well as she moves forward in her career.
