This session will look beyond the beauty normally associated
with Charleston silver and focus on defining, identifying, and evaluating
this highly collected field. Topics also addressed through this “hands
on” discussion will include: recent market trends, effective criteria
for assessing Charleston silver, vital research and reference tools, and
common mistakes made by novice collectors.

Bart Mullin, Appraiser Bart Mullin is the founder and owner of Bart Mullin Personal Personal Property Appraisal Company established in 1994. He is a credited, certified member of the Appraiser’s Association of America, and of New York University=s Appraisal Program in Fine and Decorative Art. He is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Charlotte Crabtree, independent scholar and dealer Charlotte Morley Crabtree co-owns The Silver Vault of Charleston and The Brass & Silver Workshop in Charleston. She holds a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Georgia and has studied, collected and dealt in antique silver for 20 years. Mrs. Crabtree, along with her husband, serves as a consultant for museums, foundations and private collectors. She holds the office of Vice President for the South Carolina Silver Society. |
