Todd McNerney (BA - Theatre,
St. John's University
{MN}; MFA - Acting, University
of Iowa ) is an Associate Professor in performance and chair
of the department. He teaches Acting I, Acting II, and Voice for
the Actor. He is an active member of the department's production
program, directing productions of The House of Blue Leaves, On the Verge, The Caucasion Chalk Circle, and Take Me Out, among others. He is also a co-founder of The Shakespeare Project,
a summer component of the department, which produces two productions
of Shakepeare's works each year. Shows he has directed for the Project include The
Merchant of Venice (2000), Richard II (2002) and King Lear (2006).
Todd spent three years touring with the
Swiss mime troupe Mummenschanz
. In addition to the wonderful experiences of world travel, he
developed a passion for the business side of the arts. In order
to satisfy that passion he served as the Piccolo Spoleto Theatre
Series Coordinator. Piccolo
Spoleto is the City of Charleston's official outreach program
of the Spoleto USA Festival.
