SAFERIDE Program Updates
November 3, 2005
As anticipated, we have experienced a few glitches during the opening weeks of this service. We ask that students remember NOT to:
- Ask the cab driver to shuttle you from one restaurant/bar to another restaurant/bar or one party to another party
- Forget to tell the dispatcher that you are a College of Charleston student using your SAFERIDE card. If you forget, the driver will expect cash payment.
- Leave from your pick-up location because you are tired of waiting or find a ride from a friend without first calling Yellow Cab back and canceling the request.
Please understand that there may be times when the wait for SAFERIDE will be long. It is not unusual during busy nights or the upcoming busy holiday season for the wait to be one hour in Charleston. So, plan ahead and make that SAFERIDE request at least 30 minutes before you anticipate leaving.
If you call for SAFERIDE and decide to leave before the cab arrives, please be considerate of the drivers and other potential passengers and cancel the SAFERIDE. Yellow Cab, our current service provider, is experiencing a number of calls where the individual(s) left before the cab arrived without cancelling the request to transport – a situation that is frustrating to the driver and the company. A continued problem with calls for service where the caller(s) leave without cancelling the pickup request may result in the possibility of billing those particular callers.
