Robert Ashley (BFA - N.C. School of the Arts) grew up in Summerville and Jedburg, SC.  He graduated from Strafford High School.  During high school he worked in the theatre group at the school as well as for the Charleston Stage Company's Theatre Wings Program (at the historic Dock Street Theatre).  In high school, he also attended the summer session at SC Governor's School for the Arts.  He graduated from North Carolina School of the Arts with a BFA in Technical Direction.  He then went to Atlanta, GA to work for the Alliance Theatre Company as a carpenter and spent his summers at East Carolina University's School Theatre as their summer Shop Foreman.  He moved to Norfolk, VA and was the ATD/Facility's Manager at the Virginia Stage Company (at the historic Wells Theatre) before finally coming to CofC in August of 2007.
