How well did you keep your 2008 New Year's resolution?

Anita Condon van de Erve, Associate Director of Alumni Relations
2008 Resolution: Change outlook on food and exercise and train for a walking marathon.
“I achieved part of my goal for 2008. I lost over 20 pounds but decided to give up on a marathon because of bad knees. I am looking at food differently and not dieting. Instead, I am paying attention to what I eat and when and hopefully making better choices.”

Heather Tierney,
Assistant Professor of Economics and Finance
2008 Resolution: Streamline activities and
de-stress life.
“It definitely was not working for the first couple of months, but with a great deal of persistence and determination, it’s gotten much easier. I’m scheduling more time for my transitions, so that I can enjoy being in the moment more. I’m feeling less harried these days and happier for it overall. I’m definitely nowhere near Zen-like, but I’m feeling as if my life is running more smoothly than it was in all areas of my life.”

Vince Benigni,
Associate Professor of Communication
2008 Resolution: Enjoy the Lowcountry’s culture and food.
“This year I’ve enjoyed my travels and (too much) food, ranging from stuffed pizza in Chicago to Cajun food in Louisiana. Let’s face it, not too many people make New Year’s resolutions based on more food consumption!”
