In order to graduate from the College of Charleston, you must complete 122 credit hours with a GPA of 2.0 or higher.

Within those 122 hours you will.complete general course work as required by the College, as well specified courses and concentrations within your declared major. Itemized here are.the hours and disciplines required to meet the College of Charleston's general course work requirements.


Completing the course work in 4 years' time would require a course load of 15 -16 hours per semester, although 12 hours is considered full-time. The number of hours taken per semester may be reduced if you take courses during the summer. It is wise to reduce your course load if you work 20 or more hours per week.To track your progress in meeting the general requirements of the College of Charleston as well as those course requirements for your major, please periodically review your degree audit on CougarTrail with your advisor.

English: 6 hours

Complete English 101 & 102.

Math or Logic: 6 hours
Select any Math numbered 103 or higher, except MATH 140
OR select the Logic sequence: Philosophy 215 and 216.

History: 6 hours
Choose Western Civilization 101 & 102 OR World Civilization 103 & 104


Foreign Language: 0-12 hours
Prove proficiency at the 202 level via course work or an approved exam.

Social Sciences: 6 hours
Choose from Anthropology, Economics, Latin American and Caribbean Studies, Political Science, Psychology, or Sociology.

Natural Sciences: 8 hours with Lectures and Labs
Choose from Astronomy, Biology, Chemistry, Geology, or Physics.

Humanities: 12 hours with no more than 6 hours in one discipline.
Choose from the list of approved Humanities Courses.

Electives:
Electives are used to round out your education.
Required elective hours vary according to degree programs for majors and minors.
