Georgette Mayo is Interim Director of the Avery Research Center for African American History and Culture. She earned her B.A., M.A. and M.L.I.S degrees at the University of South Carolina, Columbia.

Leila Potts Campbell is Associate Director. She earned her B.A. at Spelman College and holds several professional certificates from various colleges and universities. She is also a member of the Avery Institute Board of Directors.

Harlan Greene is Director of Archival and Reference Services. He has been working in archives and document preservation since the mid 1970s. He has a B. A. from the College of Charleston and has done graduate work at the University of South Carolina and Stanford University. 

Curtis Franks is Coordinator of Exhibitions. He earned a B.A. at St. Augustine College in Raleigh, North Carolina, and a M.A. at Jackson State University.

Deborah Wright is an Archivist of the Avery Research Center. She earned her B.A. at the State University of New York at Albany and has done graduate work at CUNY Brooklyn College.
