Economics Requirements for Major and Minor
Major Requirements
The major in economics requires 36 semester hours (12 courses). All economics
majors must successfully complete ECON 201, 202, 305, 308, 310, 317, 318, and
400, and DSCI 232, plus three elective courses to be chosen from economics and
business administration courses at the 300 level and above. At least one of
these electives must be an economics course.
NOTE: ECON 201 and 202, MATH 105 or 120, and junior standing are prerequisites
for all 300- and 400-level economics courses. Prior to enrolling in ECON 400,
students must successfully pass an entrance examination administered by the
economics faculty at the College. The sequence in Honors Economics satisfies
the ECON 201 and 202 requirement.
Minor Requirements
The minor in economics requires 18 semester hours (six courses), including ECON
201 and 202. The remaining 12 hours are to be selected from the economics offerings
(300 and above) and/or DSCI 232.
