Research Interests: evolutionary processes, phylogenetic analysis, and biogeography of fishes. In particular, histological studies of light organs and other aspects of morphology in deep- sea stomiiforms, coevolution of gobies and host corals, reproductive biology of gobioids, and biodiversity and phylogeny of certain South American freshwater ostariophysans. Efforts are also directed towards development of the research and teaching collections at the Grice Marine Laboratory (GML fish and invertebrate collection).

Teaching: Bio 335: Biology of Fishes, Bio 340: Zoogeography, Bio 350: Evolution, Bio 632: Ichthyology.
