Section Eleven: International Student Employment

Subject: Filing Taxes
Policy #11.3
<-- Section 11.2

International students are required to file taxes for the time worked while attending the College of Charleston or any other institution of higher education in the United States.

If a student returns to their country of origin, they will need to contact the Student Employment Programs Coordinator to update their address prior to their departure. All W-2 forms are processed and sent from the Payroll office and mailed no later than the end of January for the previous tax year. If a student contacts you stating they have not received their W-2, please refer them to the Payroll office.

Federal regulation prohibits employers as well as the Career Center to provide any type of assistance to students seeking help. Those students requesting help with the filing procedure should either contact the IRS directly, a local accountant or VITA, the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program, found at all county libraries.
