Career Assessment and Advice
Many alumni contact the Career Center for
resources and information regarding exploring their career
options. The Career Center provides the following services
to College of Charleston alumni at no cost:
- Administration and interpretation of
career-related interest inventories and personality assessments
(Strong Interest Inventory and Myers Briggs Personality
Type Indicator). Appointment required.
- Individual appointments with a staff
member to discuss career options and concerns
- Written and online resources for information
about availability of jobs, salary statistics and industry
trends
- Information on graduate schools admission
and application requirements
- Access to the Career Mentor Network
to conduct informational interviews with professionals in
your field of interest. The Career Mentor Network is maintained
on CISTERNonline - contact the Career
Center to obtain a username and password.

Job Search Resources
All of the following resources are available
to College of Charleston Alumni at no cost:
- Access to CISTERNonline, a web based system allowing you
to search for and view jobs and publish your resume to a
Web Resume Book within the system to be viewable by participating
employers. To request an account in CISTERNonline, contact
our office.
- Career Fairs. A campus wide Career & Graduate School
Expo is held each fall, and FutureQuest is held each spring
in conjunction with The Citadel and Charleston Southern
University. Education Career Fairs are held in the fall
and spring semesters to connect students/alumni with participating
school districts. Alumni who wish to attend our Career Fairs
as job seekers do NOT have to pre-register. Please do check
our home page for specific details about the Career Fairs,
and view the list of participants in order to be aware of
the organizations scheduled to attend and the types of positions
for which they are recruiting. This information is updated
often prior to each fair.
- On-campus interviews. Interview opportunities are available
for alumni who have graduated in the immediate past semester.
In some instances, alumni other than recent graduates may
be eligible to participate in on-campus interviews if slots
are available. These situations will be reviewed on a case-by-case
basis.
- Credential files. This service is available for alumni who
wish to maintain official documents, such as letters of reference
or college transcripts, on file. These files would be sent
to potential employers or graduate schools upon your request.
- Individual appointments for resume advice/critiques, discussion
of job search strategies, or any related concerns.
- The Career Resource Center. The Career Centers' resources
contain information regarding resume and job search correspondence,
salaries, employment trends, job/employer information, and
much more.
- Videotaped practice interviews. Appointments may be scheduled
in order for you to sharpen your interview skills.
