JET(Japan Exchange & Teaching) Program Info Session

Friday 22 September 2006 at 1:23 pm From the Career Services Office:

The JET program is sponsored by the Japanese Ministry of Education and seeks Liberal Arts graduates-any major-to teach in Japanese schools for one year. We have had a number of graduates participate in this program. The program also provides
free airfare to/from Japan and assists in finding housing.

A representative of the program will be on campus to give an overview of the program and the application process on Monday, Sept. 25, 2006 from 7:00 - 8:00 PM in ECTR 116.

The deadline to apply for next year's program is Dec. 1, 2006. The website to look at is: www.jetprogramme.org

Lecture - Women Photographers from Japan

Monday 18 September 2006 at 6:22 pm The Halsey Institute at the College of Charleston's School of the Arts will host a lecture on Thursday, Sept. 21 at 7 p.m. by noted Japanese curator, Noriko Fuku entitled "An Incomplete History: Women Photographers from Japan (1864-1997)." This lecture, to be held in the Recital Hall of the Simons Center for the Arts, will focus on the often-overlooked contributions of these women artists. This event is co-sponsored by the Department of Art History, the Halsey Institute, and the Quattlebaum Endowment.
