SPECIAL FEATURES:

This program offers a tour of the principal archaeological sites in Athens and its environs, the Peloponnesus, central Greece, and the islands of Crete and Santorini. In addition to the well known sites in Athens, the itinerary includes visits to Sunion, Egina, Corinth, Epidauros, Nemea, Argos, Lerna, Tiryns, Mycenae, Dendri, Pylos, Bassae, Olympia, Dodoni, Delphi, Orchomenos, Gla, Thebes, Knossos, Epano Arharnes, Phaestos, Aghia Triada, Lassithi, Mallia, Kato Zakro, Palaekastro, Gournia, and Akrotiri.



CLASSES:

CLAS 121 Special Topics in Classics -Clasical Greece: An introduction to the art, architecture, history and society of classical Greece through first-hand examination of major archaeological sites, visits to museums and lectures. (3 credits)

CLAS 122 Special Topics in Classics -Bronze Age Greece: An introduction to the art, architecture, history and society of Minoan and Mycenaean Greece through first-hand examination of Major archaeological sites, visits to museums and lectures. (3 credits)

FACULTY:

The program director is Dr. J. Frank Morris who received his Ph.D. degree in Classics from the University of Cincinnati and is currently an Associate Professor of Classics at the College of Charleston. Dr. Morris has conducted similar programs in Greece on several occasions.
