Substance Abuse Services

Substance Abuse Services provides multiple prevention strategies that target the campus environment and wider college community to foster informed decision-making about alcohol and drugs. Students may be self-referred or referred by others.

The services offered for substance abuse prevention and treatment are a component of the Counseling Center. We work together for the prevention and treatment of substance abuse on the College of Charleston campus and surrounding community. We have a community coalition consisting of members of local schools, county prevention efforts, local churches, parents and students.

Our staff is made up of full time staff members, graduate assistant, interns and undergraduate students (Peer Health Educators) from the College of Charleston. For more information on our staff members visit http://www.cofc.edu/betterthingstodo/Who are we.html.

About Better Things To Do™

The Better Things To Do™campaign was designed through a collaborative effort of College of Charleston students and staff to provide an alternative to high-risk drinking and drug use on campus. This initiative was developed to provide realistic and fun alternatives to alcohol and substance abuse. The website offers numerous community resources, self-tests, and useful information.
