This orientation gives incoming MES Students a chance to meet their fellow first-year students, some faculty members, and representatives from MESSA (the MES Student Association). Additional information is provided about the MES Program, and students will have a chance to ask any questions they may have.

Join MESSA (the MES Student Association) for a night of RiverDogs baseball! MES students will meet at the main gate on Fishburne Drive beginning at 6:50 p.m. Game time is at 7:05 p.m.

MESSA invites ALL new and returning students to celebrate the start of the school year event. This is an opportunity not only to catch-up with old friends, but also to meet new people! MESSA Camping Trip
Santee State Park 

Make your plans for The MESSA Camping Trip at Santee State Park, only 65 miles north of Charleston. Family, friends, and pets are welcome. The campground has heated restroom facilities with hot showers. If you're into fishing, the site is located on Lake Marion with a fishing pier and tackle shop to boot! At this workshop, presented by Isabelle Tapley, you will learn how to use the Federal Register to stay current on environmental rules and policy. The material will be presented using specific examples referencing Environmental Rules and Issues to explain how information is presented in the Federal Register and how you can access it. Geography, History, and American Nationalism

Dr. Susan Schulten, University of Denver, will lecture on “Geography, History, and American Nationalism”, on Monday, November 3 at 5.30pm in ECTR Room 118.

Dr. Schulten is a graduate of the universities of Pennsylvania and California, Berkeley. She is currently Associate Professor at the Department of History, University of Denver. Her text The Geographical Imagination in America, 1880-1950 was published by Chicago UP in 2001.

This lecture is cosponsored by the Dean of Humanities and Social Sciences, the Political Science Club, the Program in the Carolina Lowcountry and Atlantic World, the Master of Environmental Studies Program, and the Department of History.
