I wholeheartedly support the "Focus on the Faculty" website initiated by Patrick Harwood and the students in his Public Relations Practices course. The project is a terrific vehicle for representing the diverse talents, research and expertise of the College of Charleston faculty.

Our faculty's research activities- their ongoing exploration of specific areas within their disciplines- bring immeasurable benefits to the students they teach. To quote Sir John Lubbock, the 19th century English astronomer and mathematician: "If we succeed in giving the love of learning, the learning itself is sure to follow."

I hope this website will be visited by prospective students and their parents, and others interested in learning more about the College of Charleston. Here, they can get a sense of what we at the College of Charleston already know - that our fine faculty is committed to the attainment, expansion and sharing of knowledge.
