Course Description

In this course will focus on developing critical reading and writing skills that you will need to be successful in this class and throughout your writing career. Specifically, this course has several goals:

• you will become active readers of a variety of texts;
  
• you will become familiar with and able to engage in academic discourse;
  
• you will develop tools to analyze and evaluate the arguments of others and you will develop strategies to formulate your own arguments in a variety of critical contexts;
  
• you will pay deliberate attention to style, form, and content in your writing and the writing of others;
  
• and, you will develop self-evaluation tools.
