The Parts of an Annotated Entry
A Citation
     1.   Note the source’s complete citation.
     2.   This will include the author, title, journal, volume, date and page numbers.

B Purpose
     3.   Describe the article’s primary purpose or goal.
     4.   What are the hypotheses?
     5.   Occasionally an article will lack hypotheses. In this case, list the article’s research objectives.

C Methods
     6.   What kind of research methods are used
     7.   Describe the research design

D Results
     8.   What are the results of the article?

E. Author’s conclusions
     9.   What conclusions does the author draw?
     10.  Does the author call for any new research?
     11.  Does the author acknowledge any shortcomings or drawbacks?

F Relevance to your research
     12.  How does the research relate to your own research?
     13.  What insights does it provide?

G. Personal Reactions
     14.  What are your reactions to the study?
     15.  Comment on anything–questions, methods, data, results, theory, design, implications, practical
     applications, including whether you liked the article and fully understand it.
