DALE ROSENGARTEN
Rosengarten Wins Governor’s Archives Award

Dale Rosengarten, Curator of the Jewish Heritage Collection at the College of Charleston, has received the first ever “Governor’s Archives Award” presented by the South Carolina State Historical Records Advisory Board.

“This award is a way for us to bring recognition to Dale and the wonderful work she has done with the Jewish Heritage Collection,” says Roy Tryon, Administrator with the South Carolina Archives and History Center.

The Jewish Heritage Collection documents the Jewish experience in South Carolina from colonial times to the present day. The archives grow out of an active program of collection, field work, and public education that was inaugurated in 1995. The collection encompasses recorded interviews, manuscripts, photographs, genealogies, memoirs, homes movies and other material.

A part of the collection entitled “A Portion of the People: Three Hundred Years of Southern Jewish Life,” is now on exhibit at New York University.

The Jewish Heritage Collection is located in the AddlestoneLibrary on the campus of the College of Charleston.
