Caroline

Caroline Evangelista, BS in Biochemistry and Graduate of the Honors Program May 1998
Caroline is currently a graduate student at MUSC working with Dr. Rosenzweig. She is studying "Structure and Role of the IGF-binding Proteins in Reducing Tumorigenic Potential."

As an undergraduate, Caroline studied the effects of dye uptake on the optical scattering properties of K562 leukemia cells. She measured scattered light vs. angle with an optical goniometer and fit the data with a modified Henyey-Greenstein phase function. The project was funded by a grant from the Oak Ridge Associated Universities.

Caroline's Spring 1997 Research Project was an investigation of the photodynamic effect of benzoporphyrin derivative (BPD) and Photofrin (Reg. TM) on KB fibroblast cells. (BPD and Photofrin supplied by QLT)
