Why use it?
For peer reviewed, full text access to scholarly journals and other sources.
What is peer review?
The Hyperdictionary (2005) and Websters On-line (2005) both define peer review as a verb: to evaluate professionally a colleague’s work.

How do I start?
1. Your Topic. Begin with a research topic in mind. Write it down. If you have trouble deciding on a topic, you may want to browse the subjects in the database, or browse your library's book collection or subject guides.
example: (for a psychology or anthropology class) The Painted Body: Societal Attitudes Toward Tattoos
(for a biology or health class) Disease and Tattoos
2. Once you have a topic sentence, write down the keywords.
example: tattoo* and society, tattoo* and disease
Note: The asterisk (*) allows you to search for variations on the word.
3. Learn how to use Academic Search Premier.
Take a 3 minute tutorial (requires Macromedia Flash).
Note: Other students skip over CofC centric parts.
Note for Off Campus Users: Once you select the database, you will be given instructions to login.
