Endowed Book FundsTo advance intellectual and cultural excellence, the library must collect and make accessible knowledge in many areas and formats. For more than 300 years, library endowments have been essential to growing the library's collection. Book endowments can be created in the subject area of your choice, and each book from the endowment bears a bookplate. These funds develop breadth and depth in specific subject areas. For example, the Sottile Way Fund has enabled us to supplement collections about Italy and the Italian language while the Richard Haymaker Endowment enriches our English and American literature collections Endowments are created with a donation of $25,000 or more. Each endowment will remain at the College of Charleston Library to support our collections on a continuing basis. The principal of an endowment is never spent. It is forever a source of revenue for the Library. Types of endowments include:Memorial Endowments to stand as perpetual testaments to the memory of a loved one. Honorary Endowments to support your particular area(s) of interest in the library. This gift will ensure a continual enhancement of the collections for years to come. Personalized endowments to honor a family member or a friend. For more information on establishing an Endowed Book Fund, please contact Jenny Fowler, Director of Advancement |
