Dean Lindstrom graduated from Auburn University in 1967 with a B.S. degree in physics and a minor in electrical engineering. He then attended Clemson University graduating in 1972 with a Ph.D. in Physics. His area of study was superconductivity in the field of condensed matter physics. A three-month tour in the Air Force completed his active duty military obligation. In the fall of 1973 he joined the College of Charleston Physics Department as one of only four physics faculty members. Those four met the physics and astronomy curriculum needs of a College of Charleston student body of about 2000 students. Ten years later he joined the College of Charleston administration in the Office of Undergraduate Studies where he became Dean of Undergraduate Studies and, more recently, Vice President of Enrollment Management. In the Spring of 2004 he returned to his faculty status by rejoining the Department of Physics and Astronomy. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, he began serving as Associate Dean in the School of Science and Mathematics in summer of 2004.
